- A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation is making pavement repairs this week along Moores Chapel Road near I-485. The work will require a detour in the area until Monday, Aug. 1, weather permitting.
During the closure, the contractor will remove the old, damaged concrete in the existing roundabout at Moores Chapel Road and the I-485 Outer ramps. This will result in a smoother ride for motorists.
The detour routes are:
- From I-485 Outer to travel west on Moores Chapel Road: Take Exit 14 (N.C. 27/Mt. Holly Road) and turn right off the exit to travel on Rhyne Road before returning to Moores Chapel Road. Motorists traveling east will take Exit 14 and turn left to travel on Moores Chapel Road.
- From I-485 Inner to travel west on Moores Chapel Road: Take Exit 14 and turn right off the exit to travel on Rhyne Road. Motorists traveling east will take the Moores Chapel Rod exit as normal.
Message boards are in place to inform motorists of the road closure and detour.
