- The N.C. Department of Transportation will soon close a portion of Stallings Road in Harrisburg while crews replace the bridge over Fuda Creek.
Work to replace the nearly 60-year-old bridge will begin on Monday, April 4, and continue for approximately six months. During construction, motorists can use Hickory Ridge Road and Rocky River Road to get around the closure.
The existing bridge is considered functionally obsolete. This means that the bridge, although safe, no longer meets the demands of the traffic using it.
Dane Construction, Inc. is the contractor for the $8.5 million project, which includes replacing one bridge in Anson County, four bridges in Cabarrus County, one bridge in Mecklenburg County and five bridges in Union County.
