Raleigh - The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting next week regarding proposed improvements along U.S. 70 in Wilson's Mills. The open-house style meeting will take place between 4 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the cafeteria of Wilson's Mills Elementary School, located at 4654 Wilson's Mills Road in Johnston County.
At the meeting, residents will learn more about the department's proposed plans designed to improve safety and traffic flow while maintaining access along the U.S. 70 corridor in Johnston County. There are currently intersections on U.S. 70 at Swift Creek Road and Wilson's Mills Road. The proposed improvements include constructing bridges that would carry Swift Creek Road and Wilson's Mills Road over U.S. 70, as well as building ramps and service roads that would improve access at these locations for local traffic.
There will be no formal presentation; therefore, interested citizens may attend anytime during the meeting hours to learn more about the project. Maps will be available explaining the location and design of the proposed improvements for the route. NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments regarding the project. Written comments can be submitted either at the meeting, by mail or email through Tuesday, Feb. 16. All comments received will be considered in the project design selection process.
NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this hearing. Anyone requiring special services should contact Anamika Laad at (919) 707-6072 as early as possible so that arrangements can be made.
