Asheville - The subject of widening the Oak Street Extension in Forest City is now open for discussion. The purpose of the expansion is to improve traffic flow and the safety between Piney Ridge Road and U.S. 74 Alternate.
The N.C. Department of Transportation has scheduled a public meeting regarding the proposed widening from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Main Street Meetings, located at 108 East Main Street in Forest City.
This meeting provides residents the opportunity to submit written comments and query transportation officials about the 0.6-mile long project.
Interested citizens may attend the meeting - which will not include a formal presentation - at any time. Comments may be submitted during the meeting or to transportation officials until Nov. 9.
Maps displaying the location and design of the proposed project are available for public viewing at www.NCDOT.gov/Projects/PublicMeetings
