Raleigh - A railroad crossing upgrade will close Northeast Maynard Road in Cary to through traffic between Chatham Street and N.C. 54 between 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, and 5 p.m. the following day.
The initial work will involve a Norfolk Southern rail line at the crossing, which will be raised to making it level with an adjoining CSX rail line. Then on Thursday, NCDOT crews will resurface the crossing area.
During the closure, a signed detour will send traffic along Chatham Street, Harrison Avenue and N.C. 54.
Drivers are reminded to use extra caution in the area and to anticipate possible travel delays as a result of the detour.
