Road Closure Ahead For Replacement of Bridge on Pinebrook School Road in Davie County

N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to replace the bridge carrying Pinebrook School Road over Sugar Creek just east of Mocksville, closing a portion of the roadway for about three months.

Road, bridge, and other transportation improvement projects like this one are currently underway across the state as part of Governor McCrory's 25-Year Transportation Vision to enhance travel safety and to better connect North Carolinians to jobs, education, healthcare and recreation opportunities.

Work will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 13. The new bridge should be open by Sept. 19. Drivers will be able to detour around the work using U.S. 158, Farmington Road and Pinebrook Drive during the construction. The Pinebrook School Road project is part of the department's overall bridge program to improve the condition of the state's bridges. Built in 1966, the existing bridge longer meets the demands of the traffic using it.

New transportation projects in the state's current 10-year plan are funded through the Strategic Mobility Formula, a new way of more efficiently investing transportation dollars by using a data-driven scoring process along with local input to fund more projects and create more jobs. The new mobility formula was passed into law in 2013 under Governor McCrory's leadership.
