Raleigh - The Rock Quarry Road ramp to Interstate 40 East will be closed overnight tonight so crews working on the Fortify project can safely set barrier walls in the area.
The closure is scheduled to be in place from midnight until 5 a.m., with the ramp opening in time for the Thursday morning commute.
Drivers planning to take I-40 East to I-440 West will be detoured onto Sunnybrook Road, then can make a right turn on Poole Road and then turn left onto the I-440 West on-ramp.
To access I-40 East heading toward Johnston County, motorists will be directed to stay outbound on Rock Quarry Road, and then turn right on Jones Sausage Road to get back to interstate.
Drivers are strongly encouraged to pay extra attention to detour signs, and allow extra time for their trip since it will take a bit longer to get to I-40 East or I-440 West.
Project details, as well as traffic updates, live traffic cameras and information about alternate transit options can be found on FortifyNC.com. Real-time travel information for Fortify and other highways across the state is also available at any time in the Traveler Services section of NCDOT.gov or by following NCDOT on Twitter.
