Raleigh - Work to improve the safety of Tom Starling Road near I-95 will require the closure of a section of the road next weekend in Cumberland County. The closure will be between Production Drive and Grandford Drive late Friday evening, July 15, until late Tuesday evening, July 19.
The closure will allow crews to continue work on a $4 million project that will realign two curves along the 4.4-mile route and resurface the existing road. Additional weekend closures are expected, with the project anticipated to be complete by January 2017.
Roadway improvement projects like this one are underway across the state as part of Governor McCrory's 25-Year Transportation Vision to enhance travel safety and to better connect North Carolinians to jobs, education, healthcare and recreation opportunities.
Drivers will follow a signed detour using Corporation Drive, N.C. 59 South/Chickenfoot Road, Sand Hill Road, and N.C. 87.
