Seven New License Examiners Headed to Triangle-Area DMV Offices

Raleigh - The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is bringing seven new driver license examiner graduates to four Triangle-area driver license offices next week. Following graduation from DMV's Basic Examiner Training School today, the examiners will begin work at area offices Monday, Oct. 24.

The examiners are graduating following four weeks of intensive classroom study at DMV Headquarters in Raleigh and another eight weeks of practical home-office experience. They will take applications for learner permits, driver licenses and identification cards using modernized systems that create counterfeit-proof documents that protect against identity theft. They will also conduct road tests for new drivers.

"These new examiners will enhance Governor Pat McCrory's efforts to Drive Change' in our DMV offices," said Transportation Secretary Nick Tennyson. "We are happy to bring them on board because they will help us better serve our customers and decrease wait times."

The new examiners and their duty stations are: Sarah Howell, George McIver and Shomari West, West Raleigh; Gayzhe Wagner, North Raleigh; Amanda Ferrer, Garner; and Shaqura Taylor and Patricia Williams, South Durham.
