Raleigh - An NCDOT contractor will close the ramp from I-40 East to N.C. 55 in Durham this Saturday, Jan. 30. The closure is expected to be in place from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. to allow crews to safely do slope repair work along the ramp.
If the work doesn't finish on Saturday, the ramp will be re-opened that afternoon and then closed again Sunday morning to complete the job. The work is being done over the weekend because traffic volume at that location is lower than on weekdays.
A signed detour route will send eastbound drivers to N.C. 147, where they can take the loop ramp to go north, then use the loop ramp from N.C. 147 north to I-40 West, which will take them back to N.C. 55.
Drivers are urged to use caution and pay extra attention when approaching the closed eastbound ramp.
