Charlotte - At approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, the N.C. Department of Transportation will shift traffic on northbound U.S. 29 in the University City area of Charlotte to the new bridge over Mallard Creek. The shift should affect travel through the area for approximately 15 minutes as crews redirect motorists to the new traffic pattern.
This is one of a series of traffic shifts that will be necessary as the project approaches completion. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert, slow down and use caution when traveling through the area, as it remains an active work zone.
Transportation projects like this one are underway across the state as part of Governor McCrory's 25-Year Transportation Vision to support rail, enhance travel safety and to better connect North Carolinians to jobs, education, healthcare and recreation opportunities.
