Winston-Salem - N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to replace the bridge carrying Henderson Grove Church Road over Town Creek between Main Street and Peach Orchard Road prompting road closures in Salisbury starting tomorrow.
Work will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25. The new bridge should be open by May 31.
Westbound and Eastbound detours will be in place, using South Main Street/U.S. 29, Long Meadow Drive, Southmark Drive, Cedar Springs, Peeler Road, Hader Street and Peach Orchard Road.
"The Henderson Grove Church Road project is part of the department's overall bridge program to improve the condition of the state's bridges; the existing bridge is functionally obsolete and no longer meets the demands of the traffic using it," said Division Nine Resident Engineer Kelly Seitz.
