Raleigh - A short section of Tilghman Road in Wilson will be closed this week so crews can replace a culvert. The closure, between 2838 and 2840 Tilghman Road, is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, and wrap up by Thursday, April 20, at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
The work is taking place now because it is Spring Break and the road closure won't disrupt school bus routes. Message boards about the closure have been in place since last week.
Drivers will still be able to access homes and businesses up to the closure. If coming from Lake Wilson Road, that means up to 2840 Tilghman Road, and from Ward Boulevard they can get up to 2839 Tilghman Road, including Peace Church.
To get around the closure, drivers will be directed to use Ward Boulevard, N.C. 58 (Nash Street) and Lake Wilson Road
Motorists need to slow down in the area and watch for construction and detour signs.
