Raleigh - Passengers aboard NC By Train's Piedmont and Carolinian trains will benefit from safe and well-maintained railroads once Norfolk Southern's routine maintenance and improvements are completed in late May. However, travelers should be aware of several upcoming cancellations and plan accordingly.
"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for our rail passengers over the next few weeks," said Paul Worley, director of NCDOT's Rail Division. "This routine maintenance work is essential to maintain reliability and safety for our passengers."
Due to track construction and maintenance work, service modifications will take place on the following dates:
April 17-May 10: Piedmont trains 74 and 75 will be cancelled on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week between Greensboro and Raleigh.
April 25: Piedmont trains 73 and 76 will be cancelled
May 2-3: Carolinian trains 79 and 80 will only operate between Charlotte and Raleigh.
May 15: Piedmont trains 73, 74, 75 and 76 will only operate between Raleigh and Kannapolis; passengers will be bused between Kannapolis and Charlotte.
May 17: Carolinian trains 79 and 80 will be canceled; Piedmont trains 74 and 75 will not operate
