Charlotte - Crews working on the Monroe Expressway project will perform a temporary traffic shift along U.S. 74 East on Saturday, Feb. 4, weather permitting. The shift is necessary to continue construction of the expressway's new interchange at U.S. 74.
The shift will take place between Stallings Road and Indian Trail Road so crews can put down asphalt under lane closures. Paving operations will get underway around 9 a.m. and will continue until the work is completed.
During this time, traffic will be shifted intermittently between the left and right lanes.
The contractor will also close the right lane on U.S. 74 West in the same area to perform utility work.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution and expect delays.
