Asheville - The drive over Brittain Creek in Henderson County will be smoother for everyone in less than two weeks.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a short stretch of Blythe Street on July 17 in order to repair a small bridge over the creek.
Crews will replace the timber decking and repave the short stretch of Blythe Street, which connects Haywood Road and Brevard Road on the western border of Hendersonville. The work will remove large bumps and improve the structural integrity of the bridge, which is scheduled to reopen on July 28.
A two-mile marked detour will direct northbound traffic into Hendersonville and then to N.C. 191. Southbound traffic will be advised to take N.C. 191 into Hendersonville then U.S. 64 to the west.
Transportation officials remind motorists to obey all posted signs, the instructions of flaggers, and allow extra time for short delays.
