Water Quality Improvement Work Requires Closures on Shipyard Boulevard

Two lanes will remain open in each direction

Wilmington - Drivers traveling on U.S. 117/Shipyard Boulevard between Long Street Drive and Pine Valley Drive in Wilmington should be aware that one lane in each direction will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 10 and continuing each day through April 14.

The closure is necessary for Department of Transportation crews to provide a safe area for the City of Wilmington to install a treatment system for stormwater coming off Shipyard Boulevard.

"NCDOT is working in conjunction with the City of Wilmington and North Carolina State University to improve the quality of this water," said Division 3 Traffic Engineer Jessi Leonard. "The work doesn't require detours, but motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid possible delays."
