Greensboro - Drivers traveling along Waterview Road in High Point will once again be able to use the intersection at Skeet Club Road due to a schedule change in construction on the Skeet Club Road Widening Project.
The intersection and a portion of Waterview Road were previously closed for construction activities, but contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will reopen Waterview Road on Saturday, Feb. 25. It will remain open for approximately six months.
"The contractor encountered bedrock material that slowed the progress of the sewer line drilling," Division Seven Engineer Mike Mills said. "Roadside utilities also have not been moved, which is preventing further construction."
The project will widen Skeet Club Road from two lanes to four between N.C. 68 and Johnson Street. In addition to improved access for nearby businesses, pedestrians will benefit from new sidewalks and a median. The expected completion date for the project is spring of 2020.
"This project will improve safety by increasing capacity and reducing congestion along the corridor," said Division Seven Resident Engineer Paul Ingram.
Transportation officials remind motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
