SELMA – A rural crossroads in northeastern Johnston County will be converted into a roundabout.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will build the roundabout at the intersection of N.C. 39 and N.C. 42, which now has an all-way stop configuration. Roundabouts help improve safety and traffic flow.
Raleigh contractor Fred Smith Co., which recently received a $2.3 million award for the project, may begin construction after April 2. The current intersection will remain open until the project is completed by the end of this year.
