WINSTON-SALEM – N.C. Department of
Transportation contractors will close a portion of Business 40 in Winston-Salem
while crews continue installing bridge girders and perform overhead work
starting Friday, June 15.
Beginning at 7 p.m.,
westbound Business 40 approaching Peters Creek Parkway will be reduced to one
lane; with a complete closure of both directions between Cloverdale Avenue and
Peters Creek Parkway starting at 10 p.m. The roadway will remain closed until 4
p.m. on Saturday, June 16. All work is weather dependent.
“Intermittent closures for the Business 40 Improvement Project, will be needed for the protection
of workers and the traveling public,” said NCDOT Division Engineer Pat Ivey.
“We’d like to thank the public for their patience as we work with our contractor
to improve this portion of the interstate and ultimately the lives of drivers in
and around this bustling community.”
Drivers will be
able to detour using West 1st Street, Cloverdale Avenue and Peters Creek
Parkway in both directions.
NCDOT reminds motorists
to watch signs for construction information, stay alert, slow down in the work
zone and obey the posted speed limit.
