Beaver dam blockage causes washout
CHOCOWINITY—All travel lanes of the bridge on N.C. 33 over Cindy Edwards Branch, about three miles east of Chocowinity, will remain closed until repairs are complete.
The bridge closure started earlier today and will last through April 30 so that N.C. Department of Transportation crews can repair the approach to the bridge that was washed out.
Westbound traffic will be detoured to Old Blounts Creek Road, Windmill Road and back to N.C. 33. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Hill Road, Old Blounts Creek Road, Windmill Road and back to N.C. 33.
Transportation officials urge travelers to use caution on the detour routes during the closure.
