The N.C. Department of Transportation is building a 9.4-mile, four-lane roadway – which will be designated as I-73 – that begins at the Joseph M. Bryan Boulevard/Airport Parkway interchange in Greensboro, crosses over N.C. 68 and ends south of U.S. 220 near the Haw River. Work also involves building a taxiway bridge at Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA) that will cross over the future I-73.
At the northern end, the future I-73 will connect with another U.S. 220 project, which is currently under construction and will extend to N.C. 68 in Rockingham County. The interstate will help connect drivers from Rockingham County and other areas north to Greensboro and PTIA.
This project consists of two sections:
- U.S. 220/N.C. 68 Connector (R-2413AB)
- Future I-73 and Taxiway Bridge at PTIA (I-5110)
