Montell (Monty) W. Irvin, P.E., PTOE, is a professional engineer specializing in transportation engineering. He is the former president and chief executive officer of Ramey Kemp & Associates Inc., a transportation engineering, planning and design firm that was headquartered in Raleigh and operated across the Southeast U.S.
In addition to being a professional engineer, Irvin was among the first to become certified as a professional traffic operations engineer (PTOE) with a certification number of 187 out of just under 4,000 internationally with this certification.
He currently serves as the chair of the Turnpike’s Operations Committee.
Irvin has been active in several organizations, including the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina and the Boy Scouts of America. He was also appointed to serve on the Hurricane Matthew Recovery Committee.
A native of southern Louisiana, Monty received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Louisiana State University and also completed graduate-level continuing education at North Carolina State University.
His term on the N.C. Turnpike Authority Board of Directors runs from 2025 to 2029.
