The Hon. Janet Cowell is the chief executive officer of Girls Who Invest.
Prior to her position at Girls Who Invest, she served as treasurer of the state of North Carolina (2009 to 2016), as well as a North Carolina state senator (2004 to 2008) and Raleigh City Council member (2001 to 2004).
Cowell’s experience also includes positions at Corning Inc., Sibson & Co., HSBC Holdings, SJF Ventures, where she served as marketing manager, and PLC and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., where she worked as a securities analyst.
Cowell received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. She received a master's degree in international studies from the University of Pennsylvania Lauder Institute.
