How do I become a Teen Driver?
If you are a teenager between 15 and 17 years old, you must go through a process called graduated licensing before receiving full driving privileges in North Carolina. Graduated licensing involves strict requirements for teen drivers to gain on-the-road experience necessary to drive a vehicle with no supervision and minimal restrictions.
To be eligible, you must be at least 15 years old and have received a Driving Eligibility Certificate and a Driver’s Education Certificate from an approved driver education course.
