What is MyNCID — and Why Do I Need It for NCDMV Services?
MyNCID is a new way to sign in to myNCDMV. You will need it for certain NCDMV transactions where it's important to verify your identity.
It’s free, easy to set up, and helps provide an additional layer of security to ensure your transactions are secure and to keep your personal information safe.
Once you have a MyNCID account, you can also use it to access a wide range of online government services provided by the state of North Carolina.

For many services, you do not. Any transaction in which you must verify your identity with a selfie photo, however, will require you to have a MyNCID account.
1. Go to the MyNCID Portal.
2. If you are creating an account for yourself, select "Individual."
3. Complete the registration form and set your password. The entire process takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
