What are crash reports?
Crash reports are highly regulated and require a Federal Drivers Privacy Protection Act (or DPPA), 18 USC 2721-2725 Permissible Use for unredacted copies, as they can contain personal information about more than one person.
How can I order a crash report?
First, let’s determine why you need a crash report.
I was in a crash
I am with a licensed business or organization
I was in a crash
If you were personally involved in a crash, you can order a redacted copy of the crash report in person or by mail.
Because crash reports include private information about everyone involved, federal privacy laws limit what can be shared. You will only receive a redacted report, which means some personal details (like names or addresses) will be hidden. This helps protect everyone’s privacy while still giving you the key information you need about the crash.
For more information on permissible use, visit our
terms of service.

I’m with a licensed business or organization
If you are a government agency or a licensed professional such as a lawyer or private investigator, you can request an unredacted crash report that includes full details.
You’ll need to confirm that your request meets one of the permissible uses allowed under federal privacy law. You will also be required to submit identification that verifies your profession or agency status. Requests that do not meet a
permissible use will only receive the redacted version.
