Public Input Sought for Proposed U.S. 17 Widening Project

Project would widen highway for ten miles in Martin, Beaufort counties

WILLIAMSTON – The N.C. Department of Transportation is inviting the public to an informal-style meeting on August 9 to learn more about the proposed widening of U.S. Highway 17 from north of N.C. 171 to south of Williamston in Martin and Beaufort counties. 

The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of the project and gather input on the proposed design. As information becomes available, it may be viewed online at the NCDOT Public Meeting webpage: https://www.ncdot.gov/news/public-meetings/Pages/R-2511-2018-08-09.aspx.

The meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Macedonia Christian Church located at 7640 U.S. 17 in Williamston.

Interested citizens may attend the meeting at any time, as no formal presentations will be made. NCDOT representatives will be on hand to provide information on the project, answer questions and receive comments. The opportunity to submit written comments will also be provided at the meeting or can be done via phone, email or mail by Aug. 23, 2018.
