MARVIN – This afternoon, crews opened a roundabout at New Town Road and Marvin School Road, one of two roundabouts to be built under a $1.4 million contract recently awarded to Sealand Contractors Corp. of Charlotte. Construction on the first roundabout started July 9.
The second roundabout will require closing New Town Road at Waxhaw-Marvin Road on Sept. 4 for approximately six weeks. A detour will be posted for motorists along Marvin Road, Joe Kerr Road, Marvin School Road, New Town Road and Crane Road, returning to Waxhaw-Marvin Road.
A 500-foot section of New Town Road will also be closed between Marvin School Road and Waxhaw-Marvin Road during construction to connect the roadway with the new roundabouts. A detour will take traffic down Marvin School Road, Joe Kerr Road and Marvin Road, back to New Town Road.
