NCDMV Operating Under Emergency Conditions Due to Hurricane Florence

RALEIGH – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is operating under emergency conditions as it North Carolina endures Hurricane Florence .

Emergency conditions means that some offices in the storm's path are closed and that road tests at offices that remain open are limited.

More than 80 driver license offices in eastern North Carolina and some in central areas of the state were closed as of Friday afternoon. Many license plate agencies have also closed.

Saturday hours are canceled at all driver license offices.

Once regular services resume, drivers who have appointments at the affected driver license offices will be contacted to reschedule their appointment.

A list of affected offices, which could remain closed for several days, can be found below.

Because more closures are possible as Florence progresses inland, individuals are urged to check the status of any driver license office or license plate agency they plan to visit before heading out. Closures and changes to office hours can be found on the office locations page of the official NCDMV website at MyNCDMV.gov.

NCDMV’s main call center, located in Bladen County, also closed Wednesday. Calls are being directed to other areas of North Carolina, where call centers are operating with limited staff.

Many DMV services, including renewing driver licenses, ordering duplicate ID cards or renewing vehicle registrations, are available online.
