NCDOT Will Replace Two I-95 Business Bridges in Cumberland County

I-95 Business bridges in Eastover

NCDOT will replace these two I-95 Business (U.S. 301) bridges in the town of Eastover in Cumberland County.

EASTOVER – The two Interstate 95 Business/U.S. 301 bridges east of Fayetteville will close Oct. 15, so they can be rebuilt.

Built in 1957, the spans have become functionally obsolete for today’s traffic. The new ones will be taller and have wider shoulders to meet current standards. As a safety precaution, the department closed one of the two lanes on the southbound bridge this summer because a vehicle had damaged one of the concrete columns underneath the deck.

  • Both bridges will close at the same time, and traffic will be detoured as follows:
Northbound: Exit at Murphy Road to I-95 at Exit 55
  • Southbound: Take I-95 Exit 52B (N.C. 24) and travel to U.S. 301

The new bridges are scheduled to open late next year.

NCDOT awarded a $4.9 million contract last year to S.T. Wooten Corp. of Wilson to replace these two bridges and where the U.S. 301 northbound bridge that arches over the southbound I-95 Business loop in Hope Mills.
