Bridge Work will Close Lanes on Tenth Street in Charlotte

Charlotte - N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue a $16.3 million project to improve 22 bridges along I-277 in Charlotte with intermittent lane closures on Tenth Street, starting Friday, April 13.

The work is part of a contract awarded last summer to repair existing structures, paint bridge beams, and put down a new epoxy overlay or latex modified concrete on bridge decks to create a better riding surface.

Crews will close lanes intermittently on Tenth Street under I-277 each night from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. over the next three weeks to safely remove paint, make any necessary repairs and add new paint to the bridge structure. The work is weather dependent and may need to be extended.

No detour will be needed during the lane closures, but motorists are encouraged to use caution, slow down and remain alert in the work zone.
