CHARLOTTE – Starting Sunday night, June
10, intermittent lane closures will be in place along Interstate 485 between
I-85 and N.C. 115 in northeast Charlotte as contract crews install pavement
markers.
Work will start on the Outer Loop in the two left lanes near
Mallard Creek Road (exit 28), continuing to N.C. 115 (exit 23). When work on the
Outer Loop is complete, the two left lanes will close on the Inner Loop, working
in reverse back to I-85 (exit 30).
Crews will then shift lane closures to the two right lanes on the
Outer Loop, working through the project limits, and will shift to the two right
lanes on the Inner Loop, again working in the opposite direction.
Lane closures will be scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday
through Thursday nights. With favorable weather, work could be completed by the
end of June.
Since workers and equipment will be on the highway, drivers are
urged to slow down when approaching the work area and to use extra caution.
