WINSTON-SALEM — The N.C. Department of Transportation has planned lane closures on Business 40 for later this month so crews can install a guardrail and barrier wall in the area.
Weather permitting, the outside lanes of eastbound Business 40 from Crafton to Broad streets will close nightly from Jan. 29-31. Closures begin at 9 p.m. each day and reopen at 6 a.m.
Liberty Street, meanwhile, is down to one lane from Business 40 to Cemetery Street to give crews enough space to demolish the CBI and Steam Academy buildings.
Demolition work should be completed and all lanes of Liberty Street reopened by Feb. 2, weather permitting.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert, slow down in the work zone and obey the posted speed limit.
