SHELBY – As work continues on the Shelby Bypass in Cleveland County, several temporary lane closures will be needed on N.C.180, just south of Airport Road and the CSX Railroad tracks.
On Saturday, Feb. 23, N.C. 180 will temporarily close from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. to safely mobilize a crane for the project.
Another closure scheduled for this weekend has been postponed one month due to weather issues. Contract crews will close N.C. 180 the weekend of March 16-17 to install bridge girders. The closure will be in place from 9 p.m. Friday, March 15 until 6 a.m. Monday, March 18. A detour will be in place along N.C. 180, U.S. 74 Business, and N.C. 18 North, returning to N.C. 180.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
