NCDOT Continues Work to Bring Craven County Highway to Interstate Standards

NEW BERN – The N.C. Department of Transportation continues its work to bring a Craven County highway up to interstate standards.

Starting Feb. 18, NCDOT will close one lane at a time of U.S. 70 East between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and the Twin Span Bridges in New Bern. For about three weeks, crews will widen the shoulders, mill and repave this section of the highway.

This is part of a more than $25 million project that will transition the current U.S. 70 corridor into I-42.

While there will not be a detour, drivers should anticipate congestion during this time and to use extreme caution while crews are at work.

For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on social media.
