NCDMV to Open Fifth Full-Time Driver License Office in Mecklenburg County

CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will open a new driver license office in Charlotte on Wednesday, bringing the total number of full-time offices in Mecklenburg County to five.

With the new office, DMV will now have four offices in Charlotte and one in Huntersville.  A part-time mobile unit visits Pineville each Wednesday.

The new office, located at 9711 David Taylor Road near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus, will target customers in north Charlotte but will be available for everyone.

“We are excited to open a fourth full-time driver license office in Charlotte,” said DMV Commissioner Torre J. Jessup.  “This new office will increase the capacity for service delivery in the growing Charlotte metro area.”

The North Charlotte office will have 15 examiner work stations and will operate from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday.

Customers may contact the DMV Call Center at 919-715-7000 to confirm appointments and operating hours.

DMV offers driver license and REAL ID renewals, as well as many other services online. Customers are encouraged to check the official DMV website at MyNCDMV.gov to see if their driver license needs can be met online.
