Improvements Proposed for Onslow County Intersection

JACKSONVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting next month on the proposed project to improve an Onslow County intersection.

The proposed project aims to improve safety and mobility at the intersection of U.S. 17 at McDaniel Drive/ Workshop Lane in Jacksonville. NCDOT is considering two different options. The first is a conventional intersection and the second is a superstreet design. The superstreet design footprint is larger, and costs would increase.

The project was submitted by the Jasonville Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Maps of the proposal area can be found at the NCDOT Public Meetings website.

The public meeting will be held June 3 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Community Training room at the Jacksonville Department of Public Safety at 200 South Marine Boulevard. Interested residents can drop in any time during the meeting to learn more about the proposal, have questions answered and talk with NCDOT representatives. There will not be a formal presentation.

Written comments can also be submitted by phone, email or mail and will be accepted through June 17.
