WILMINGTON - The N.C. Department of Transportation is repairing a section of a New Hanover County highway, U.S. 421 Truck.
A section of U.S. 421 Truck has been narrowed to one lane and NCDOT will use a flagging operation to direct traffic around a sinkhole in the southbound lanes. NCDOT estimates it will reopen the lanes by 5 p.m. today.
The area is less than a half-mile long near Marstellar Street.
Drivers are urged to find an alternate route, as increased congestion is expected. Drivers should also use extreme caution and slow down when approaching and in the work zone.
