Lane Closures Scheduled on U.S. 29 in Concord

CONCORD – N.C. Department of Transportation crews will be working at the intersection of U.S. 29 and Rock Hill Church Road Sunday and Monday, July 7 and 8, to mill and resurface the roadway. The work is expected to take two nights to complete, with dry weather.

At 8 p.m. Sunday, crews will mill up the intersection, finishing by 6 a.m. Monday. The plan is to return at 8 p.m. to overlay the road with two inches of asphalt, completing the work by 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 9.

While the work is underway, intermittent lane closures will be needed, but traffic will be maintained on site.

Once work at the intersection is complete, additional resurfacing will take place on U.S. 29 between Rock Hill Church Road and George Liles Parkway for the next several weeks, weather permitting. Crews will continue working at night,  keeping one lane open to traffic as they pave one direction at a time.

Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
