Greenville Highway Roundabout Construction Starting

MILLS RIVER – Construction on the major component of a roundabout project in Hendersonville is slated to start on Wednesday, July 17.

A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Greenville Highway in order to complete construction of a box culvert and  roundabout at the intersections with Erkwood Drive and Shepherd Street.  The roundabout will help realign the offset intersections, improve the traffic flow and reduce crashes in the area.

Crews from Graham County Land Company will have 90 days to complete the work and re-open Greenville Highway. Erkwood Drive and Shephard Street will also be closed to through traffic.

A marked detour will utilize Brooklyn Avenue, N.C. 176 and North Highland Lake Road. Other construction crews have been preparing for this major phase of the work by moving utilities and beginning installation of the box culvert.
