Busy Week of Work on Uptown Loop

CHARLOTTE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue closures that were in place last week on portions of Interstate 277. Several rainy nights prevented work from progressing on the $16.3 million project to improve the roadway and 22 bridges along the corridor.

Tonight, the ramp from the inner loop to East 11th Street will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday for bridge repair.

On Tuesday night, the ramp from U.S. 74 to the inner loop and the off ramp from the inner loop to East Fourth Street (exit 2A) will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday for bridge repair.

Also, this week the exit ramp from I-77 northbound to the outer loop (exit 9B) will be closed from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. each night through Friday morning.

In addition, this week the entrance ramp from South Clarkson Street will be closed each night from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday for ramp repair.

Detour information will be online at DriveNC.gov under Mecklenburg County.

Drivers need to slow down and use extra caution while going through the work zones and the detour routes. They also need to pay extra attention to the road for their own safety, as well as any passengers, occupants of other vehicles and the construction crews in the area.
