CLEMMONS – Lane closures are scheduled for this weekend for a traffic shift on Interstate 40 near the Davie-Forsyth county line.
Contract crews plan to close a lane of I-40 East between N.C. 801 and Harper Road at 6 p.m. Friday to begin a traffic shift across the median to the new bridge over the Yadkin River. The closure will begin with the left lane and is expected to shift to right lane by Sunday, so crews can complete the tie-in for the median crossover.
Both lanes of I-40 East should be open in the new traffic pattern by 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.
Drivers should slow down and be mindful of crews working in this area.
This work is part of the ongoing project to replace the I-40 bridges over the Yadkin River and widen and improve 3.3 miles of the interstate.
