Short Closures Coming to I-77 Ramps in Yadkin County

JONESVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will start a short-term closure of Interstate 77 ramps at the N.C. 67 interchange in Yadkin County as part of a major rehabilitation project.

Starting Monday, the I-77 northbound ramps at Exit 82 will close until April 20 so crews from Archer Western can remove old concrete and the supporting base, then rebuild ramps designed to last another 30 years.

Northbound drivers will be detoured to Exit 85 at N.C. 268/C.C. Camp Road which will allow drivers to cross over the interstate to join I-77 South and return to N.C. 67. Drivers on N.C. 67 desiring to join I-77 North will be directed to I-77 South and take Exit 79 at U.S. 21 Business to cross over the interstate and join I-77 North.

Starting April 20, the I-77 southbound ramps at Exit 82 will be closed for the same construction. Drivers will be detoured to Exit 79 at U.S. 21 Business to cross over the interstate to join I-77 North. Drivers on N.C. 67 desiring to join I-77 South will be directed to I-77 North to Exit 85 at N.C. 268/C.C. Camp Road to cross over the interstate and join I-77 South.

This construction is part of a $49.5 million project to completely rehabilitate five miles of the interstate and the associated ramps. The project began last spring and is scheduled to conclude by Sept. 1, 2021. Crews have completed more than 50 percent of the project.
