​THOMASVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will be closing the onramp and offramp of Lake Road at Interstate 85 North during overnight hours this week to improve the ramps.
With weather permitting, crews from Triangle Grading & Paving will close the I-85 North ramps at Exit 102 from 8 p.m. on Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday, and then again from Wednesday night until Thursday morning to rehabilitate the pavement surface.
Drivers desiring to exit I-85 North at Lake Road will be directed to Randolph Street (Exit 103), turn left under the interstate and take I-85 South to Lake Road.
Drivers desiring to go north on I-85 from Lake Road will take I-85 South to U.S. 64 and go under the interstate to join I-85 North.
This construction is part of a $17.1 million contract for pavement rehabilitation and bridge preservation in a seven-mile stretch of I-85.
Transportation officials remind motorists to plan extra time for overnight driving and obey all posted signs.
