Durham Street near U.S. 70-N.C 98 Interchange to Close Permanently

DURHAM – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close off access to Herbert Street south of N.C. 98/Holloway Street beginning at 3 p.m. Friday.

This permanent closure, which is part of the East End Connector project, is necessary to accommodate the widening of Holloway Street and the improved interchange with U.S. 70.

Upon closure, drivers will need to use Hardee and Liberty streets to access Herbert Street south of Holloway Street.

The northern portion of Herbert Street will remain open and provide access to the relocated driveway for the motel at the intersection.

The East End Connector, estimated to be completed by the end of the year, will provide an interstate link between Interstate 85 and the Durham Freeway (N.C. 147).
