RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are scheduled to close several exits from Interstate 440 West/U.S. 1 South on Sunday night as part of the I-440 Improvements project.
Access to I-40 (Exits 1A and 1B), Walnut Street (Exit 101A) and Buck Jones Road/Crossroads Boulevard (Exit 101B) from I-440 West/U.S. 1 South will close Sunday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday.
Detours will lead drivers to continue south on U.S. 1 to turn around at Cary Parkway (Exit 99) while work is performed on the collector lanes for those exits.
This work is weather dependent, and the rain date is planned for the following night.
Motorists should allow extra time to navigate the detour and slow down and obey all posted signs in the work zone.
