DURHAM — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are set to shift a 2.7-mile stretch of U.S. 70 East traffic to its final pattern tonight.
Beginning at 10 p.m., the ramp from Cheek Road onto U.S. 70 East will be closed to allow contract crews to place new pavement markings and shift to its final alignment from Cheek Road to Lynn Road.
While the ramp is closed, a detour will lead drivers to Muldee Street, Hoover Road, and Holloway Street to get onto U.S. 70 East.
Work is scheduled to be completed by Sunday morning, but is weather dependent and subject to change.
Drivers should pay extra attention and allow extra time to navigate around the work zone.
This work is associated with the East End Connector project.
