LOWESVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to intermittently close lanes of N.C. 73 next week to service the bridge that carries the highway over the Catawba River in Lincoln County.
Maintenance crews plan to close one side of the highway between Caswell Road and the east side of the river from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day from Dec. 14-18. The eastbound lane will be closed first and once work is completed on that side, the closure will be shifted and work will begin in the westbound lane.
Message boards will be placed to alert drivers of the closure.
Motorists should drive slowly through the work zone and remain alert for road workers in the area.
