DURHAM — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to close the exit ramp from N.C. 147 South to Alston Avenue Monday night as part of the project to widen Alston Avenue in Durham.
The ramp (Exit 11) will be closed to traffic from 8 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday to allow crews to erect three light poles along the outside shoulder of the ramp. A similar closure was implemented last Friday when foundations for the poles were poured.
During the closure, a detour will lead drivers to Briggs Avenue (Exit 10A) to turn around and access Alston Avenue.
Drivers should allow extra time to navigate the detour and pay extra attention while driving near the work zone.
